Jeanette Elizabeth Brown passed away Friday, August 19, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Morton Ernest Brown, her son David Kevin Brown, her father Chester Pate Long, and her mother Faye Elizabeth Long.
Jeanette is survived by her daughter Linda Elizabeth Brown and Linda’s wife Cynthia Davis, (whom she lovingly referred to as her other daughter). She also leaves behind grandson Tyler Brown, grand daughter Jennifer Abele, great-grandson Tommy Schroeder, and numerous caring friends that provided her with wonderful social support.
Born in San Antonio and graduated from Trinity University, she worked and retired from the Northside Independent School District as a special education teacher. She spent many hours outside the school setting helping her students apply for employment and followed up with them to ensure they were doing well. She was an active member of San Antonio Conservation Society and worked weekly assembling flowers for the yearly fiesta events. She always wanted to help others that where in need. When a young man came to her church to sing and she realized he was in need of corrective eye surgery, she went to work with the doctors and hospital, as well as drawing from her savings to make the surgery possible. To this day, our family has been blessed with the merging of Moises Nogueron and his family with ours.
She was also an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church since its opening. She volunteered every Monday to help out in the office and worked as long as she was physically able planting flowers and keeping the grounds looking beautiful.
Visitation will be on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home on Bandera Road, 5:00-9:00. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 6800 Wurzbach Road, with Pastor Elmer Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Mission North Cemetery. Please visit WWW.sunsetNWfuneralhome.com for an online memorial and tributes through Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please make donations to Chester P. and Fay Reeder Long Memorial Scholarship Fund in Tarrant County, Texas. 2800 S. University Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76129.
