Born on St. Patrick’s Day in Dayton, Ohio to parents, Auda Irene Loftis and Deloy Loftis of Tennessee, she was preceded in death by her parents and Julie Bishop. She is survived by her partner, Carol Bishop; daughters, Kellie Kelso (Steve), Michelle Zemanek, Ammie Solano (Joseph), Becky Kelly (Robert); brother, Dale Loftis (Julie); seven grandchildren, Dylan Vondaggenhausen, Stevie Marie Kelso, Kelso Rowe, Blake Buell, Kasey Kelso, Grant Rowe, Issa Chavez; nephews, Travis (Anna), Ryan (Megan) and their children, Hunter, Jacob, and Rosie.
After attending Ohio University, Jeannette moved to Michigan where she spent her days working as a nursing home bookkeeper, sewing dance costumes for her daughters, Kellie and Michelle, and working toward her National Administrator Board certification. Jeannette spent her long career as a Nursing Home Administrator working with dedication to improve the conditions for elderly patients in her nursing home facilities. She worked in Michigan and Texas as an administrator for many years until she became a regional director overseeing up to 17 nursing homes at a time. Her constant puppy companion, “Highway”, kept her company as she visited facilities all over Texas. She was adored by her colleagues and staff that had the privilege to work alongside her. Many of them looked up to her as their mentor. She was always willing to teach and guide others that she met along her professional journey by effortlessly inspiring and uplifting all that she met. She was generous, forward thinking and innovative. For example, she personally funded certified dementia training for her employees to ensure that her patients received the best care possible.
While working in the care industry she met her beloved partner, Carol Bishop of 32 years. They traveled extensively and experienced many adventures together like taking their children and grandchildren on cruises to Europe and Alaska as well as celebrating New Year’s with them in Las Vegas. Most of their 32 years together were spent in San Antonio where Jeannette has many friends who describe her as kind, loyal, and a good listener. She never met a stranger and had a way of always making others feel important and remembered. A champion to all. The San Antonio Fiesta events were among her favorite things to do with Carol and friends as well as attending Majestic Theater performances and concerts. They were long term members of the Alamo Couples Club. She was a past secretary of the Alamo Business Council. Though her thumb was not green, she was a long-time member of the Rainbow Garden Club of San Antonio also.
We will miss our beloved partner, caring mother, adventurous grandmother, sweet sister and loyal friend. Her dog, Highway, will miss her terribly too.
