Jeannie Gershowitz Rudd passed away surrounded by her loved ones on May 29, 2022 at the age of 77. She was a beautiful, strong, funny, stubborn, colorful, animated, one of a kind, wonderfully empathetic woman, who spent her life helping others and loving her family dearly. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Rudd, who she met when the Army transplanted him from New Jersey to Texas. Although their first encounter was a flop, the 57 years that followed were filled with an abundance of love, devotion and an unbreakable bond.
Jeannie is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Violet Gershowitz. She is survived by her children, Rachelle Abelow, Russell Rudd & wife, Deyanira Rudd and Jason Rudd; her grandchildren, Julia Abelow, Samantha Abelow and Maya Abelow; her brother Sadhana Singh Khalsa; and the rest of her extended family, including friends that she considered family.
Jeannie was born in Corpus Christi and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio. Later in life, she decided to go back to college (and still cooked dinner every night for her husband and three children). She ultimately graduated magna cum laude from St. Marys University with a degree in psychology. She became the therapist she was born to be, and, when she could no longer work, she continued to help others with her wisdom, knowledge and as always, a sense of humor, until her last breath.
In lieu of flowers, we ask everyone to do a random act of kindness in Jeannies memory, and help someone, as she always did.
