We met your mom today and it is clear by how very much she mourns you that you were a very special soul. Thank you for being who you were and doing all you did. We have adopted you and your final resting place and will see to it that you always have some special token of our gratitude. The world is a better place for having had you and a sadder place for having lost you so soon. Go rest high on that mountain.....

Phil and Judy, How our hearts break to hear of Jeffrey's passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Though we didn't know Jeffrey personally, reading your thoughts of him remind us of Tennyson's lines:

We only talked a couple of times after you joined the Army. I am so sorry I lost contact with you. But Brion always kept me updated of what was going on in your life. There will always be an empty spot in my heart. I so wanted you to meet my husband who would have loved you. You were like a son to me. I know you were burdened with things that no young man your age should have to deal with. But around me you were always a happy caring and loving person. Remember my brownies that you always loved so much? I don't think I ever told you they came from a box. As long as they were good does it matter where they came from? Judy, The first time I meet you we sat around the table and I told you what a wonderful son you had and how important he was in our family, it was like having another son. I am sorry. This is a terrible loss. He was a very special young man. Phil, We never had a chance to visit, but as I told Judy this is unbelievable and unbearable to deal with. Just know he really was very important to our family. And he is going to be greatly missed. Mere words will never be enough.

Jeff was one of my nephews, Brion Landry, best friends. He was considered part of our family. I love Jeff as if he were my own nephew. I am proud to say he always called me Aunt Tyranni. Jeff was a very sweet and respectful man who always had a smile on his face. The last time I saw Jeff was at Andrew York's Deployment Ceremony on June 07, 2008. And as always he was smiling, laughing, joking, and just being the Jeff we all knew and loved. 
I would also like to say to Mr & Mrs Hyde "I can only imagine the pain you must be going through. My heart truly goes out to you. I hope that you will find comfort in knowing that Jeff is at peace. You raised a wonderful young man, and have a lot to proud of in Jeff. There is no doubt that Jeff will be in Heaven. It goes without saying that he will be greatly missed."

I'm beside myself to hear this sudden news and to know there is no explanation yet. Jeff was a very kind and fun person who always could bring a smile to your face. Jeff...you will be missed.
