

Jerry Martinez of Helotes, TX, age 58 passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006. Jerry lived his entire life in San Geronimo, TX. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a shrewd businessman. He took over the family business Pete's Place and then went into the construction business with his father and brother-in-law in 1976.
When he wasn't working or being boss he would be looking for a "trout slick" in his favorite apparel "Columbia Wear" in Port Mansfield. He was a collector of antiques from furniture to fishing lures. Along the way Jerry made many friends. He was always ready to offer advice in doing it his way. Jerry loved to cook for a crowd on a grill, or a campfire.
These cookouts led to many a business deal, a tall tale, and a good laugh. Jerry was a very active member of the CCA and Alamo Sector of Quail Unlimited and long time supporter of 4-H and Ag Youth programs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Martinez and father, Latto V. Martinez. Jerry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Danielle; two daughters, Erica and Kaitlyn; sister Linda Murry and husband D. A. ; sister Teresa McDaniel and husband Doug; nieces and nephews Kevin, James, Paul Murry, Doug McDaniel, Tina McDaniel and Kenny Rettko, numerous great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Alice Rettko and husband Kenny; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Haby.
