Jesus Ramirez

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Dr. Ramirez was a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso and the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He spent more than 25 years in private practice in El Paso and San Antonio areas specializing in diabetic wound management, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and amputation prevention. Dr. Ramirez dedicated more than a decade serving the underprivileged as a staff physician with the Centro De Salud Familiar La Fe in Fabens, Texas.

In 2008 he assumed the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio as a member of the Department of Orthopedics.

He was preceded in death by, his mother, Consuelo. Dr. Ramirez is survived by, his father, Sebastian Ramirez; his wife of nearly 50 years, Mimi Lujan-Ramirez; his two children, Jeannette Ramirez-Coons and Stephen Ramirez; siblings, Sebastian, Arturo, Martha, Emma and Julie; and his three grandchildren, Alyssa, Stephen and Jonathan.

Dr. Ramirez leaves a legacy of caring and compassion for all that knew him. He was a kind and gentle man that will be missed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
