Jimmie Owen Bauer

Born January 31, 1936 in Greenville, Ohio. Graduated from Ohio State in 1958 and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1962. Upon entering the Air Force, he was assigned to Eielson AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1964 – 1967. He was later assigned to Wilford Hall in San Antonio for Internal Medicine fellowship, which he completed in 1970. In 1972, he completed a Gastroenterology fellowship and was assigned to the School of Aerospace Medicine, Brook AFB, San Antonio. He had obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel when he resigned his commission in 1974 and went into private practice at Diagnostic Clinic of San Antonio, 1974 – 2000. He served as Chief of Staff at Community Hospital in San Antonio in 1982. Most recently he worked as a physician and lab director at Biotest Plasma Center in San Antonio. He was a member of the American Gastroenterology Assoc., Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Assoc., Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie Bauer; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Rob Foster; grandchildren, Josh, Adam and Jamie Foster and Bobbie Bauer; great-grandson, Alan Foster. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam; sons, Douglas and David; and stepson, Michael Palasos.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
