Jimmie served his country proudly while stationed throughout the world. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and was awarded the Bronze Star and the combat infantryman's badge in the Philippine Liberation. Later, during his Air Force career, he was deployed to Vietnam on three different occasions. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service at Tuy Hoa Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jimmie will always be remembered as a devoted husband and father who unselfishly put his family's well-being before his own. He was a caring and compassionate man who instilled values in his children through his everyday behavior and actions.
He placed great importance on education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to go to college. He, himself, loved to read. In his youth, he accepted the responsibility not only of his young wife, but also of her four young brothers. His legacy will live on through those he touched.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Larry Davis and the staffs of Da Vita Dialysis Center, West Bexar County Fersenious Dialysis Center, and Vitas Hospice, especially Julio Estrada, Chasity Green, and Stephanie Shannon Texas Career students.
