Jimmy Don Mills was born April 17, 1933, in Ranger, Texas, and entered eternal rest on April 24, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. Jim prepared to enter God's kingdom through his faith in the Lord and devotion to his church.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra G. Mills. He is survived by his daughter, Amber Mills Quirk, son-in-law, John Christopher Quirk and grandson, Payton Joseph "PJ" Quirk all of San Antonio and his brother, L.F. "Pete" Fuston of Lewisville, Texas. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Peggy Hostetter Fuston and nieces, Laura Fuston Head and Brooke Fuston Rodriquez.
As a young man Jim developed a passion for riding bulls in the rodeo circuit. After breaking nearly every bone in his body, Jim limped his way to Lubbock where he attended Texas Tech University. However, his college career was short-lived and he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country overseas. After receiving an honorable discharge, Jim found himself selling cars for various dealerships in the Fort Worth and Houston areas. He eventually founded Mills Motor Company in Houston. For years Jim operated his successful car business as a wholesale dealer. He was a brilliant business man and was respected as an honest dealer in a very competitive environment. He will be missed by many friends and business associates.
Jim married his wife, Sandy, in 1963, and they resided in Houston, Texas until her death in 2012. Jim was actively involved with Lakewood United Methodist Church where he served as an usher during Sunday services for many years. He was devoted to strengthening his relationship with God by reading scriptures daily.
His family would like to thank all of his caregivers, especially Dr. Jennifer Sutton who gave him kindness and peace of mind during his final healthcare decisions.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, 2:00 PM at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, Texas. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to the American Cancer Society.
