She worked as a head cashier for W.T. Grants department store for 14 years and as a seamstress for Pilgrim Cleaners for more than 10 years. She was an avid outdoors-woman and enjoyed fishing, camping and boating with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Lionel Birkla, Larry Dean Birkla and Philip Birkla.
She is survived by her children; daughter, Jeannie Smith and husband Rick of San Antonio, TX; son, Robert Chamberlain of San Antonio, TX; son, Gerald Chamberlain and wife Jeanette of Carrier Mills, IL; grandchildren, Melissa Arispe, Shane Chamberlain, Erica Smith,Tabitha Chamberlain, Jessica Chamberlain, Courtney Chamberlain and Zoe Chamberlain; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Ricky Smith.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 17, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
Service to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Internment at Fort Sam Houston to follow at 2:00 p.m.
