Joan Elaine Wanner

Mrs. Wanner was both a Career Army Spouse and Mother for 27 years and retired as a Department Army Civilian Employee after 22 years of civil service.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wayne G. Wanner and her parents, Larry and Elsie (Zeiber) Killian.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Wanner, Jr and partner Jerry, Scott Wanner and wife Margaret; grandchildren, Michael Wanner and wife Katrina, Janet (Wanner) Geoffroy and husband Justin, Megan Ornelas, Erica Ornelas and Ezra Ornelas; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Wanner and Seth Wanner; sisters, Shirley (Killian) Delp and husband Richard, Linda (Killian) Griesemer and nephews and nieces.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Sunset North Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Friday, December 14, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel at Sunset North Funeral Home, with interment to follow at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made in Joan’s memory to the American Heart/Stroke Association.
