JoAnn (Ortiz) King, passed from this life into eternal life April 4, 2022. She was born November 25, 1934, in San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Louise (Wisdom) Ortiz, her husband of 63 years Virgel W. King, sister Jeanette (Ortiz) Brooks, brother Edward Ortiz and son-in- law Philip C. DeWaal.
JoAnn is survived by her daughter Kathy (King) DeWaal and grandson Matthew T. DeWaal and wife Trisha Garza, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
JoAnn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She loved to cook, read, and collect antiques. She also liked to watch and talk about the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and other sports with her husband, son-in-law, and grandson. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in JoAnn's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
