Dear Joanne, 
As I prepare to leave for the coast, all I can think about is the day you asked if I’d like to join the family. That moment meant everything to me. It still does.
I remember how you’d brush your hair back with your hand, or push your glasses up when you were upset or meant business. Those little gestures said so much without you even realizing it. And your cooking—how could I ever forget that? Fish with rice and toast was my absolute favorite. Yummmm! It wasn’t just a meal; it was love on a plate.
I miss you so much. Especially those days when we’d talk for hours, just getting lost in conversation. Like that one time you were supposed to run errands, but we got so wrapped up in talking, we completely forgot. We left the house laughing, not a care in the world, and stopped for a drink instead. God, I miss those days.
We made so many memories together—each one a treasure. I cherish every single one. I always pictured you living to be super old, with gray hair and that same familiar smile.You are a part of me—always will be. And as I head toward the coast, I carry you with me. In my thoughts. In my heart. In everything.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to James, their children and grandchildren during this difficult time.  We met the Tristan's about 15 years ago.  I remember our first conversation with them both.  We felt an instant connection with them. If Joanne did ever have a bad day it never showed because we were always greeted with a kind voice, laughter, and storytelling, but most of all her beautiful smile that would light up any room.  She was never at a loss for words.  She talked about her children and grandchildren.  My favorite conversations were about how she enjoy trips they took together and how proud and happy she was of her children and grandchildren.  When I asked her how they decided to open their own business, she spoke so highly and proudly of James and his knowledge of being a mechanic.  They were the perfect partnership.  She said to me that it was the best decision they had ever made and because he was such a good mechanic she knew she could depend on him to have a successful business.  We instantly knew that they would be our forever mechanic couple.  We would go pickup our vehicles and talk, laugh and eventually leave with a big smile on our face.  I just know it's going to break our hearts when we go in and she's no longer there with him.  We will miss her greatly and will forever be grateful for the friendship we had with her.  Life can be very unfair and although she will not be here in the flesh, she will always be here in spirit and the memories we have of her will never be forgotten especially her welcoming smile and her contagious laugh 🌹 Sincerely Anna & Tony

I have had the pleasure of knowing JoAnn and James for 31 years. JoAnn could always be counted on to greet me with a warm smile and thoughtful conversations. JoAnn was a beautiful vibrant woman and I miss her dearly already I can only imagine the pain and loss James and their children are coping with. I am lost for words. Hearing of your passing is one of the hardest things I’ve had to face. I will forever remember your warm smile and the heartfelt conversations we shared. Your kindness inspired me to become a better version of myself.

Thank you for welcoming me into your home with open arms — it’s a memory I will always hold close. You and James showed me that there is so much more to life, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

My deepest condolences to the entire Tristan and Valdez family. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. You may be gone from out sight, but you are never gone from our hearts and you will never be forgotten. Joanne I was very blessed to have known you and so grateful for the time we did spend together. May you Rest in Peace and may your soul find eternal rest! I won't say goodbye, my friend, for you and I will meet again.

I only met Joanne's a couple of times but I felt an instant sense of sincerity while talking with her. She was truly a sincere, caring person who always was very caring. She will truly be missed and I will keep her in my prayers and ask her to watch over James while dealing with her loss.
