Joaquin Varela

Born on September 23, 1936 in Yuriria, Guanajuato, Mexico As a young man lived in Chicago and moved to San Antonio in his retirement years. He lived the last few years in service to the Lord as a Deacon with Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, TX.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Fuentes Varela. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Victoria Varela; daughter, Alice Rosa and husband David, and son, Joaquin Michael Varela and wife Julee; grandchildren, David Rosa, II, Marisa Rosa, Daniel Rosa, Brianna Varela, Joshua Varela, and Alexandria Varela; siblings, Fr. Rodolfo Varela, Lucita Vega, Josephina Varela, Ruben Varela, Marie Elena Villagomez ,and Rodrigo Varela.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
