Joe Tony Aguilar, affectionately known as Tony to friends and family, lived a life marked by laughter, faith, and an unwavering spirit. Born on July 28, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to proud parents Marshall and Juanita Aguilar, Tony’s early years set the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and joy. It is with profound sadness and immense love that we announce Tony’s peaceful passing on April 30, 2024, in his native San Antonio, surrounded by the love of his family.
A graduate of Burbank High School, Tony went on to further his education with college courses that would serve him well throughout his life. His commitment to service was apparent from his youth, as he joined the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, a role that exemplified his courage and adventurous spirit. Tony’s professional journey included meaningful tenures at HEB, Marriott, and the Northside Independent School District (NISD), where he made countless connections and left a lasting impression with his quick wit and kind-hearted nature.
Tony's personal life was as rich and full as his professional endeavors. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Cynthia, and a loving father to his daughters, Cathy and Cindy. His sister Santa, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, filled his life with laughter and love. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Juanita, his infant son, Tony Jr., and his brothers, Joe and Charlie. Each family member played a crucial role in his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Among his many interests, Tony was an avid small-scale car collector, a hobby that reflected his attention to detail and appreciation for craftsmanship. He was also tech-savvy, embracing the world of computers with a passion that kept him connected to both the past and the future. Tony's love for these pursuits was only matched by his infectious humor and the faith that guided him every step of the way.
Those who knew Tony would describe him as funny, a man whose humor brought light into every room. His faith-filled nature was evident to all, as he lived his beliefs with integrity and grace. Spirited until the end, Tony approached each day with the same energy and zest for life that he had as a young paratrooper.
Tony's life story is one of undying commitment—to his family, his friends, his work, and his interests. He navigated the ups and downs with a positive outlook that inspired everyone around him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the countless memories and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts.
