Joe J. Barbera, born on April 6, 1915, in San Antonio, Texas, met his Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. Barbera, Sr, Mary Rose Giovanazzi Barbera, and his wife, Winiferd "Winnie" Osborn Barbera. He is survived by his brother, Charles F. Barbera, Jr; daughters and their children, Mary Jo Shaw with Chris and Melody; Jerri Kay with Johnny and Joey; Patti Lynch with Joe and Shannon; Michelle Smith with Michael; Suzi Wilkins with Megan, Jack and Adam; and Margaret Arreguin with Kelly; Joe had numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Joe attended St. Mary's Academy earning an academic scholarship to Central Catholic High School and worked closely with the PTA of St. May's Parochial School. Joe was an avid sportsman winning speed boat racing trophies, senior snow skiing medals, hunting and fishing trophies. He was a member of the Alamo Boat Club and part-owner of Barbera Sporting Goods Company.
