Joe was born on May 5, 1978, in San Antonio, Texas, to Reuben and Beatrice Cruz. He attended Harlandale High School and went on to live life entirely on his own terms. A true one-of-a-kind, Joe was a motherfucking gangsta through and through—fearless, fiercely loyal, and unapologetically real. He moved through life with unmatched strength, standing tall for the people he cared about and leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.
Above all, Joe was an all-around family guy, a true animal lover, and an avid outdoorsman. Whether he was out hunting, spending peaceful hours fishing, or just hanging out, his world revolved around the people he loved, and he was happiest when surrounded by his crew. A die-hard fan through and through, Joe bled black and silver for his hometown San Antonio Spurs and flew high with the Philadelphia Eagles, never missing a chance to rep his teams with pride.
Joe is survived by his partner, Emma Marines; his parents, Reuben and Beatrice Cruz; his grandmother, Anita Cruz; his children: sons Allen Trujillo and his wife, Dalila Trujillo; Joe Gilbert Cruz Jr. and his wife, Shayla Cruz; Dan Aguayo and his partner, Ashley Aguayo; and Jacob Sandoval; and daughters Natalie Sandoval, Hailey Sandoval and Leann Garza.
He is also survived by his siblings: Gabriel Cruz, Reuben Cruz Jr. spouse Jackie Palacios, Jermaine Cruz-Mendiola, and Andrea Cruz-Mendiola; his numerous tios, tias, cousins, nieces, and nephews; his loyal dogs, Deebo and Smokey; as well as his extended family and a wide circle of devoted friends who will forever carry his legacy.
