

Joe Clarence Daniel passed peacefully from this life in San Antonio, Texas on December 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Clarence and his mother, Viola Evelyn Daniel. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Langford of Helotes, Texas.
Joe Daniel was born on October 21, 1933 in Galveston, Texas. His childhood memories were filled with stories of living with his grandparents in a big two-story house on Ave. Q ½ during World War II. When he wasn't in the care of his grandparents, aunts and uncles, he traveled with his mother in a 1940 Ford Coupe as she followed her husband from base to base from Spokane, Washington to Florida with many stops in between.
In 1953, Joe enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Austria as a medic. After his military service, he moved to Dallas where he worked as a radiology technician. He finally settled in Chicago, Illinois in the early 1960's where he worked for many years at Corbett Clinic. He retired from a management career at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. He loved the city of Chicago with its beautiful parks, delightful restaurants and world class museums and live theatre. In 2006 he returned to Texas to live in San Antonio where he could be close to his family.
A memorial service celebrating Joe's life will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Isle of Watercrest, 11349 Alamo Ranch Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78253. A private inurnment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or ASPCA.
