

He was a resident of San Antonio and Cibolo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Demetrio Medrano; mother, Felisitas Medrano; and father-in-law, Manuel Vela.
He is survived by his wife Sally Medrano; daughter Marisa and son-in law Rudy Perez; son Joey Medrano and fianc Zandra Pena; and four grandchildren Zach Medrano and Rudy, David and Vanessa Perez. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Ybanez and Janie Guerra; uncle Larry Paez; aunt Esther Paez; mother-in-law Lilia Vela and family; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives.
He was a courageous firefighter for 34 years at Kelly AFB and Lackland AFB, including four years of service to our country in the United States Air Force.
Following his retirement as Station Chief in 2001, he worked as an usher at the San Antonio Missions.
Joe and Sally were married for 42 years. They loved to travel, go to the movies, dance, spend time with their friends, and travel to the casinos together.
Joe also spent many years coaching his son Joey's Great Northwest Soccer League Gold Thunder team and YMCA basketball team.
His greatest joy was spending time with his four grandchildren. He was blessed to have spent the last three weeks with each of his grandchildren.
He will be remembered by many, as a loving, hard-working family man and will be deeply missed.
Joe cherished his fellow firefighters and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27th at Porter Loring, 1101 McCullough.
Procession departing Porter Loring Chapel, Thursday, June 28th at 8:00 with a Mass of the Resurrection to be held at 8:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 617 S. Santa Rosa Blvd.
Interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:00 AM with full military honors.
