John Benton Bellomy, 65, died August 26, 2026. He was a resident of San Antonio, Texas. Born November 4, 1960, at Logan General Hospital in Logan, West Virginia, John was the son of Bertha and Gary Bellomy.
John was preceded in death by his father, Gary Bellomy of Unneda, WV, and his aunt, Dora Bare of Gallipolis, OH.
He is survived by his mother, Bertha Bellomy of Uneeda, WV; his daughter, Meredith Bellomy of San Antonio, TX; his son, Barry Bellomy of San Antonio, TX; his brother, Gary Dean Bellomy(Brenda) of Man, WV; his brother, Christopher Bellomy of Uneeda, WV; and two nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Man High School, Class of 1980, and went on to join the United States Air Force in June 1981. After 20 years of service, he retired in 2002. During his military career, he served in Operation: Desert Storm in 1991 and was stationed at Kelly AFB and later at Lackland. In recognition of his service, John was awarded several achievement medals and ribbons, including the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three bronze oak leaf clusters.
Beyond his years in uniform, John’s steady devotion was most clearly seen in the life he built around those he loved. He found enjoyment in simple, meaningful pastimes—watching movies, playing video games, painting, and reading—and he especially valued spending time with family. He will be remembered as a beloved son, dad, and brother, and for the enduring place he held in the hearts of those closest to him.
