John Henry Chavana

John Henry Chavana, age 78, passed away April 23, 2016. He was born on September 22, 1937 in San Antonio, TX to John & Marie Antoinette Chavana. He graduated in 1955 from Central Catholic High School and was a St. Mary’s University Alumni. He was a member of the Tau Delta Sigma Fraternity. John served in the U. S. Army National Guard Reserves for 3 years until 1958. He was a long time Director and life member of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and served on the Program and Frontier Club Committees, as well as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He loved playing golf and hunting with friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Chavana & Ernest Chavana; and sister, Cynthia Chavana.

John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maxine Chavana; son, Ervin (Cindy) Chavana; grandson, Trey Chavana; sisters, Melanie Trilling & Dorothy (Burford) Westlund; brother, Anthony (Gail) Chavana; sisters-in-law, Betty Chavana & Theresa Chavana; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
