David served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He graduated with a B.B.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1951.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul S. Colley, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn C. Gayle and husband Elliott, Carolyn K. Colley, and Patricia E. Colley; grandchildren, Audrey Trevino, Fletcher Morgan Colley, Charles M. Bryant IV, Hannah Gayle, and Colin S. Bryant; great-grandchildren, Isaac Trevino, Madeline Trevino, and Charles M. Bryant VII; sister, Barbara Howard; sister-in-law, Jean Colley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
