

John Hayes Crichton died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 after a long illness. He was born in Minden, Louisiana July 21, 1920, the son of Thomas Crichton, Jr. and Bernard Moore Crichton. Mr. Crichton resided in San Antonio, Texas for the past 18 years. Prior to that he lived in Palm Beach, Florida and San Francisco, California.
Mr. Crichton was Company commander of the 155th Infantry in New Guinea in World War II. He was a Major, G-2 Section of 6th Army in charge of intelligence gathering and was Aide to General Walter Krueger, the 6th Army Commander. Mr. Crichton was an Attorney in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1949-1952; Managing Director of Better Hotels of Louisiana in 1952-1962; CEO of Computer Controls of Palm Beach, Florida from 1963-1969; Owner and CEO of The Commonwealth Group in San Francisco, California from 1973-1992.
Mr. Crichton is survived by his wife Flora Cameron Crichton of San Antonio, Texas; his daughters Kate C. Gubelmann of Palm Beach, Florida, Anne C. Clark of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Lili C. Monell of Palm Beach, Florida; a son John H. Crichton, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida and a stepdaughter Megan C. Finch of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren Phoebe and Bingo Gubelmann, Tantivy Bostwick, Crichton Clark, James Clark, Peter Clark, Emily Clark, Maia Monell and John H. Crichton, III.; and two nephews Thomas Crichton, IV and Scott Crichton.
