

He was born on August 2, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas to Charles Olen Dunman and Julia Elizabeth Bale. At the age of 16, he lived in Washington DC for the summer, and worked as a Page for the US Congress, running errands for the congressmen. A proud graduate of Texas Christian University, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and went on to join the Army National Guard. He started in sales with Gillette in Fort Worth, and he later joined Marathon Oil in Beaufort, South Carolina. He returned home to San Antonio and ended his career with a job he truly loved, as a contract animal caretaker at BAMC. He had a passion for animals, good music, horror films, and sports of all kinds, especially his TCU Horned Frogs football. He was a devoted family man that always put the needs and happiness of his loved ones before his own.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dunman, mother, Julia Dunman, and sister, Marcella Whaley. John is survived by his children, Jane Johnson (Stephen), Allyson Cranston, and Jeffrey Dunman (Brandie); nephew, Bryan Webb (Michele); grandchildren, Cody Johnson (Alexis), Evan Johnson, Kenny Cranston Jr., Haylee Cranston, Baylee Dunman, Sophia Dunman, Jeremyah Dunman; and great-grandson, Cayden Johnson.
