

After a rich and blessed life highlighted by faithfulness in our lord Jesus Christ, John Gore passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday May 17th 2016 after succumbing to multiple system atrophy. John was born to Mary Wall Puryear and James Andrew Gore in Alexandria, Virginia. Among John's many hobbies were boy scouts, camping, hiking, bird watching, watching the Washington Redskins football games, hiking, bowling and running the St. Patrick's Day Marathon. He also hiked the Appalachian Trail when he was in his early forties.
John was married to his first wife Linda, until her death in 1985. When he met Barbara Ruth in Trinidad in 1995 he continued one of his favorite hobbies, bird watching. While traveling abroad they chased the winged creatures in Canada, Japan, Alaska, Costa Rica and up and down the Mississippi River aboard The American Queen. John also took up square dancing when he met Babs.
He leaves his wife Babs of twenty years, sister Peggy and her husband Bill, son and wife Marty and Kim and their children Lindsey, Emily, and Curtis Gore, John's daughter Sally Gore,John's stepsons Andrew Scott, and Craig Scott and wife Stephanie and their children, and numerous family and friends.
John being a man of great faith taught Sunday school at Walnut Hill Baptist Church and was active as a Sunday School teacher and choir member at the Thousand Oaks Baptist Church in San Antonio TX.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate John Gore's Life at the Sunset North Funeral Home located at 910 North Loop 1604 East in San Antonio, TX at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday afternoon May 22nd 2016.
