

John Battista Gurrieri died on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 81 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his brother, Richard; his children, Anne Marie, Patricia, and Peter; his grandchildren, D.J. and John; his great-grandchildren, Connor, Dillon and John; his nephews Tony, Rich and John, as well as his great nephews and nieces and many close friends. During his life, John, or Johnny, was a man of many talents. He started his career in the Navy and served for 16 years. John got a degree in electrical engineering and then worked for RCA in New York. He retired from RCA to become the proprietor of McCant's Glass and Mirror in Charleston, South Carolina, which was the family business. He retired again, and moved to San Antonio to become the owner of a car dealership, and to marry, after many years, his high school sweetheart, Marie. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, serving faithfully for more than 60 years and achieving the 4th degree. He volunteered for C.O.P.S. and attended church at St. Dominic's and Prince of Peace regularly. He volunteered as an usher at many plays and musical performances, and his interests included aviation, and boating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
