It is coming on 10 years since you passed and not a day goes by that I do not think of my brother and miss his presence so much, hope to see you soon in the next life and we can catch on all that has come to pass. The world turns without us no matter what we want to happen.

To the family of John G. Gutierrez: John will be sorely missed by all of his Holy Cross brothers, and especially by the Board of Trustees for the school and Holy Cross Community Services Board. John was a tireless worker who could always be counted on to help his beloved alma mater. Lately, he has been instrumental in helping rehabilitate Holy Cross Family Practice clinic on McMullen. His knowledge of the building industry and the various people that could be counted on to fix and repair anything will always be remembered by those of us involved with the clinic. Although I'm not related, please accept my condolences on the loss of your loved one. I also would like to share a few biblical thoughts with your family. In 2 Corinthians 1:3,4, and Psalms 34:18 speaks of Jehovah God as the Father of all comfort and mercies, He is near to those who are broken and crushed in spirit.And because we have pain, He assures us a remedy through his son Jesus Christ. The book of John 5:21,28,29 speaks of the resurrection that is yet to be fulfilled. Along with that thought, read Revelation 21:1-4, and just think, death and mourning and all the pain we now experience will be done away with for God promises that. One last scripture that reflects this whole letter is Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, in order that a person heals and looks forward to God's promises is to take "time" for everything that is under the sun. So please take care of yourself and your family and draw close to our Creator and the promises that will be fulfilled through his Son Jesus Christ.

My two most recent memoies of Johnny both occurred within this past year, aside from the traditional HC tournament and graduation parties. This summer at South Padre, I distinctly remember listening to him and my dad talk for hours on the balcony of the Inverness. Barbeque had been cooked, oldies were playing, and there was an incredible thunderstorm on the ocean. This Christmas, Johnny and Sabina stopped by for dinner and we all sat at a table together, surrounded by food, family and happiness. 
I cant begin to describe the impact he and his family have had on my life but I will be forever grateful for moments like those and so many more that have made me appreciate the kindness and love they have always shown my family and I. I wish I could be there to show my support, but please know I am always thinking of and praying for you all. You have been part of my family my entire life and, like everyone I know who has been touched by Johnnys good humor and warm personality, I will miss him dearly.

I am the HR Coordinator at Catholic Mutual. It was always a pleasure talking to John. We shared the same birthday. Our latest conversations were of all the snow we received here in January. He would laugh and think that it was real funny that we were so buried. He said that it had been years since he has seen snow there in Texas and even talked about going with his family up to the mountains on Christmas Eve so that you all would have snow for Christmas. He was a kind and caring man, as well as a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be sadly missed by all of us. No words can comfort the pain and loss that you must be feeling. John left a big impression on Don and for that I will always be greatful. I only briefly had the chance to meet with him on a few occasions. I remember John talked to me the morning of the ski trip to Colorado that Don went too. He told me he would always talk to Don about what he wanted to make of himself. Don had never had anyone that really took the time to talk to him about his future and care what became of him. My sincere condolences on the loss of a great man. I used to see him at a gym and we had several conversations about living on this great earth and enjoying each day because you never know if it is your last.
