John was educated at Ashland College, Ashland Ohio, graduating in 1978. He studied at Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, receiving his certificate in 1983. In addition, he received a BA (1987) and MA (1990) from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
John worked as a reservation agent at Southwest Airlines for 35 years. He is remembered for his "GREETINGS!" and his ability and willingness to help others.
John is survived by his family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service ("pizza will be served") will be offered on Monday 28 May 6:00pm at Northwest Hills Christian Church, 9560 Potranco Road.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warriors—an organization John respected highly—or to M D Anderson Hospital, where he received excellent treatment for the last two years.
