
John C. Lease passed away on June 16, 2001, after a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on July 18, 1917 in Sioux City, Iowa. John served as a medic in World War II in the Asiatic/Pacific Theatre. He continued to serve his county in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1977. He worked in the meat packing business with Cudahy Bar-S Foods for over 30 years. He moved his family to San Antonio in 1965. John was known to all as a humorous, generous, loving man and a very creative, excellent cook. His greatest love in life was his family, who will dearly miss this wonderful man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Constantine and Katerina Lease, and grandson, Scott Lease. His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lorraine Lease; sons, John Lease Jr. and wife Nancy, Paul Lease and wife Sharyne, and Douglas Lease; daughters Barbara Peterson and husband Dale, and Janet Lease; sister, Nina Sweeney; brothers, Joseph C. Lease and wife Mary, Dr. Gus C. Lease and wife Lois; grandchildren, Darcy Gubrud, James Lease, Jennifer Mond, Amber Bricker, Shelby Wade, Kristin Peterson, Travis Peterson; great-grandchildren, Madison Ann, McKenna and Katherine, and beloved dog, Margo. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
