Working with John was an honor and a pleasure. He was a great person to have in our teams and was always willing to help and take up a challenge. 

On a personal note, I always enjoyed our conversations and his positive and often humorous attitude. Even during challenging times, John kept a smile and a can-do attitude. He always spoke so lovingly of his family and I always saw this as one of his defining traits, a loving father, grandfather, husband and colleague. 

You will be greatly missed, John....

My heart goes out to the Lee family.

Lee and I were roommates at the Plaza Apartments way back in 1983. Though we didn’t see each other often over the years, we kept in touch through letters and phone calls. Lee was the kind of friend you could always count on—loyal to the core. I remember his unwavering devotion to the Spurs, his proud San Antonio roots, and the way he could do a mean “Cotton-Eyed Joe” line dance. Once Lee had made up his mind, he was tough to sway—and I think that determination was part of what made him such a steadfast friend.

When my sons and I visited San Antonio in December 2020, we gave Lee very little notice, but he still took time off work to be with us. He shared stories and history about Texas that we had never heard before, and it reminded me of how much he loved his home state.

My prayers are especially with Lee’s mom and dad. God blessed you with a long life, but you have endured the heartbreaking loss of two sons and a daughter. Lee loved you both deeply, and you blessed his life more than words can say.

San Antonio will feel different knowing Lee is no longer on this side of heaven. But I am thankful that he loved the Lord and that he is with Him today.

Virginia, I lift you, your son, and your daughter in prayer. I’m grateful that Lee had you to share life with—he loved you all dearly.

Lee’s friendship was a gift, and his absence will be felt deeply. But his faith, his love for his family, and his loyalty to those he cared for will remain in our hearts.

My condolences to his family and loved ones. I worked with John for approximately 10 years and he was always a joy to be around. He loved talking sports and recalling his earlier days in Pecos. I loved to hear his stories. He was a sweet man and will be missed.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of John. I was deeply saddened to learn of his loss.

During the many years we shared on the team, and particularly the two years when he worked directly under me, he distinguished himself through his unwavering dedication, strong work ethic, and pride in his work. His thoughtful nature, kindness, and loyalty earned him a lot of respect and admiration.

John consistently spoke of his family with warmth and pride. I remember many conversations surrounding our children and grandchildren—they highlighted the depth of his love and commitment to his loved ones.

His presence left a lasting impression, and his absence will be deeply felt. I'm very sorry for your loss. Know that he will be greatly missed. May God grant him perpetual peace and comfort you in your time of grief.

Family was the most important thing in life. He loved the family get togethers to celebrate the holidays.

He loved all his grandchildren. That was truly the joy of his life is be part of his grandchildren's lives.

When we met he was dressed as santa clause. He was always willing to volunteer when needed/
