

He was born in Houlton, ME on March 1, 1946 to Frederick and Marjorie Lowrey. He served in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran; and was a Master Mason, Monument Lodge #96, in Houlton, ME. He farmed potatoes alongside his father on his family's farm in Aroostook County, worked as a trailer trucker and was the winner of several "safe driver" awards.
John was an avid and accomplished woodworker and cabinet maker. His passion was making Shaker-style furniture and boxes, which he pursued through his business "STIX".
John was adored by everyone, never met a stranger and loved animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frederick D. Lowrey. Survivors include his wife, Paula Sue Shaw Lowrey; children, John A. Lowrey of Chesapeake, VA, Jill R. (Lowrey) Brown of Longwood, FL, and Thomas O. Lowrey of Houlton, ME; grandchildren, James, Christina, Megan and Abbey; and a sister, Joyce Ann (Lowrey) Udell of Jonesborough, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the San Antonio Humane Society, 4804 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, TX 78229.
A gathering will be held at a later date.
