John was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. and Mrs. John M. McAlister, Jr.; and his brother Melvin Manley McAlister. He is survived by his nephew, John M. McAlister, III of Glen Allen, Virginia. John was an uncle who will be deeply missed.
He was a graduate of Clemson University and spent his career as a civilian draftsman for Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his fun-loving spirit, and being a one-of-a-kind character.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 6th at 4:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home; 1701 Austin Hwy; San Antonio, TX 78218.
