John L. McPherson

John spent his entire 50-year career working in the gasoline and convenience store industry after graduating from West Texas State College (now West Texas A&M University) in 1961. He started with Shamrock Oil & Gas in Amarillo, TX as a territory salesman before leaving to work for Sigmor Corporation in Houston, TX. In 1971 he moved to Lafayette, LA where he served as a District Manager and Vice President for Sigmor. More importantly, this relocation to Lafayette resulted in him meeting his bride, Carolyn Rose Amy. In 1983, after Sigmor was purchased by Diamond Shamrock, he moved to San Antonio as a District Manager. In 2001, he retired from Diamond Shamrock after 40 years with the company. Shortly thereafter, he began working for TETCO and spent 10 years there before retiring in 2011. Following his second retirement, John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing and watching golf on TV, and following his beloved San Antonio Spurs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn A. McPherson and his parents, Evorah and John McPherson. John is survived by his sons, Mark David McPherson and wife Claire, and John Brent McPherson and wife Shelli; daughter, Ann Hamilton and husband Nick; and their siblings, Beth Drewery and husband Keith, Blaine Major, Amy Fonville and husband James; brothers and sisters, Luada Sifferd, Larry McPherson, Sandra Hare, Linda Bostwick, Ron McPherson, and Jackie Ward; grandchildren, Harold Andrew McPherson, Emma Rose McPherson, William Brent McPherson, Adyson Colleen Hamilton, Lyric Owen Hamilton, Sydney Lee Rose Hamilton, Tara Warren, Shaine Campbell, Chandler Major, Chayse Major, Charli Major, Chelsey Major, Chance Major, Channing Major, Hannah Marie Fonville, and Dylan James Fonville; and great-grandson, Wyatt.
