Jack was preceded in death by his parents Jerome Moynihan, Sr. and Stephanie B. Moynihan, his siblings Lt. Jerome Moynihan Jr, Frank Moynihan, Joan Moynihan, and Stephanie Moynihan Ball. In addition to his parents and siblings, his wife of 47 years, Dee Moynihan passed away in 2013 and his son Blair in 2023.
He is survived by his daughter Dana (Billy) Ryann and his seven grandchildren, Aaron Ryann, Kevin Ryann, Olivia Ryann McCabe (Diego), Emilia Ryann, Simon Ryann, Macy Rayne Moynihan and Liam Moynihan. He was a fantastic dad and grandpa and adored his 7 grandkids. He has been to countless games, meets, parties, graduations, you name it, he was there until it became too difficult to attend.
Jack attended Fordham College and St. John’s University School of Law. He was drafted almost immediately after graduation and served in Stuttgart, Germany. He continued in the Air Force Reserves until retiring in 1986.
Jack began his career as a United States government employee when he relocated to San Antonio, TX in 1961. He spent time as an Assistant City Attorney, an Estate Tax Attorney with the IRS, and as District Counsel of the San Antonio Office of the U.S. EEOC. In 1980, he joined the office of the Western District of Texas as an Assistant U.S. Attorney as a Senior Litigation Counsel until his retirement in 1994.
Jack was a member of several legal and church related organizations: The State Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. A devout Catholic and daily communicant, he was active in the Knights of Columbus, a past president of the San Antonio Right to Life Committee. He served on the Board of Directors of the Pilgrim Center of Hope, a Catholic evangelical ministry of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Jack was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and held the rank of Knight Commander at the time of his death.
