John Walter Neidert

John W. Neidert, age 76, passed away on September 15, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. John Neidert was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 1, 1946. Before entering the Air Force, John earned his Eagle Scout rank on October 7, 1963. John entered the Air Force serving from January 20, 1970 to January 19, 1977 under the rank of staff sergeant. John served on military bases across the globe including the United States, Germany, and Australia. John was among the first members of an American established base in Australia base called, Pine Gap, for which he is honored as a founding member of the base.

John Neidert was an avid reader who collected a vast array of science fiction novels. John enjoyed many strategy-based activities including chess and the Civilization series. John Neidert was a very loving, articulate, and determined person who sought to make a positive impact on the people’s lives he encountered. John was selfless, tending to the needs of others as best he could, always supporting those close to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Genevieve Neidert. John W. Neidert is survived by his children, Amanda Grope (Darren), Gary Neidert (Jessica), and Paul Neidert; his brother, Richard Neidert; his grandchildren, Luke and Emma Grope and Liberty and Zak Neidert; and his closest friends, Rodney Lainhart, Norma Neidert, Cecil Pegram, Steve Best and Kathy Best.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary West on September 28, 2023.
