John J. O'Connell, born February 15, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Elizabeth Doyle O'Connell and John Bernard O'Connell passed away on September 16, 2007 at the age of 79 in San Antonio, Texas.
He attended Campion High School, St. Louis University and received his PhD in Sociology from Loyola University in Chicago. He was a Professor at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Southwest Texas University in San Marcos, Texas, where he retired in 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Maggi O'Connell; sister, Mary Brady and brother-in-law, John Brady, M.D from Bellear, Florida; five nieces, Anne Quinlan, Mary Brady, M.D., Patricia Hetrick, Sharon Brady and Madeline Fromageot; three nephews, John Brady, Michael Brady, and Thomas Brady; and many friends and relatives in the Chicago area.
