John A. Otten, age 69, of San Antonio, died, Saturday, December 11 2010.
John worked for Handy Andy Grocery for 21 years starting as a stock boy at the age of 14 and became Assistant Supervisor of the inventory crew.
He went on to work at VIA as a bus operator in 1976 and completed the last 15 years of his career as a trolley driver, retiring in 2009. He placed several times in the VIA Bus Rodeos. John was Mr. Amigo Claus for the Alamo City Amigos and an associate member of the PTGASA.
During his lifetime he was an avid and accomplished bowler and pool player. John was totally dependable and devoted as an employee, friend, father, husband, and American citizen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rosalie Otten.
He is survived by his wife, Katie Otten; daughter, Joyce Raposo; son-in-law, Robert Raposo; granddaughter, Mariah Raposo, and dogs, Snoopy, Bailey, and Rio.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Porter Loring.
