

He received a B.S. from Princeton and then received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business, University of PA. He moved to San Antonio in 1935 and married Patricia Heppes Parker in 1954. He served his country as an officer in the US Army. Later he served as an officer and director of the Alamo National Bank of San Antonio for 25 years. He retired to pursue his own investments and to take an active interest in the family's oil and ranching businesses. John served as a director on boards of numerous local businesses and charities. He was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of Reconciliation. John will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman, little league coach, beloved father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia H. Parker; his parents, George and Margarite Parker; and his brothers, Harry J. Parker, II and George Parker, Jr.
Survivors include sons, John M. Parker, Jr. and George L. Parker and wife, Eva; daughters, Mary E. Cece Parker and Janie Valach and husband, Ken; grandchildren; Christopher, Theresa, Alison and Robbie Valach, Leslie, Tricia, and Thomas Parker; brothers, Joseph B. Parker and wife, Mary Anne and William A. Parker and wife, Camilla; sister-in-law, Mary Olivia Parker; brother-in-law, Lawrence Heppes and wife, Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
