John Roy Phillips

John was born September 9th, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. He lived in Houston and in Lafayette, Louisiana, before finally settling down in Port Aransas, Texas where he has resided for over 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Laura Phillips and John and Elizabeth Cox; and his parents, Wendell and Ann Phillips.

John is survived by his beautiful wife, Karen (Adams) Phillips, who have been together 36 years; his two sons, John Oliver Phillips of Port Aransas, and James Ryan Phillips of Austin; his brother Rick Phillips and wife, Rachel Kaufman of Glorieta, NM; his aunt, Joan Keate of San Antonio; and many other family members. He was a loving husband and father who greatly appreciated his time with his family and friends.

John was a Commercial Sales Manager for Hunting Energy Services for the past 25 years. Over those years he established many close business and personal relationships which he valued tremendously.

John enjoyed going to the beach, the river and hiking in the hill country. He was a lover of music, water sports, Labradors, baseball, antique watches, and electronic gadgets. Not only did John play baseball, he also coached summer and fall league teams to support the Port Aransas High School Baseball program. The boys he coached and worked with still have great admiration and respect for him.

A private graveside service will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM in San Antonio at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Port Aransas, TX at 1:00 PM at Sea Shell Village behind the Third Coast Studio facility in the Outdoor Party Pavilion , 502 E. Avenue G. Event Parking is available behind Shells Restaurant on 11th Street. If you need directions please call 361-749-4294
