

John Woodrow Rutherford, Jr. went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 78 on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
He faithfully served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from City Public Service after thirty-six years of employment.
John's greatest love was spending time with his family. He loved and supported Cornerstone Church. He enjoyed listening to and singing Gospel, Country and Bluegrass music. Gulf fishing with his son John, eating at Jim's Coffee Shop, and working out were some of his favorite pastimes.
John was born March 26, 1932 in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Neumann Hunter; his father, John Woodrow Rutherford, Sr.; son, James Alton Smith; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Renteria and Cameron John Kemmy.
John is survived by his seven children, Shelly Kemmy, Sharon Martin and her husband, Eddie, Bain Smith, John Woodrow Rutherford III and his wife, Carmen, Cynthia Renteria and her husband, Danny, Dawn Pedrazine and Kathleen Hartman. John also leaves behind 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; his sister, Clara Jane Dukote; and his former wife and lifelong friend, Maria Alicia Burger.
Visitations will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Porter Loring.
