

John Thomas Saunders, a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend, age 75 of San Antonio died Saturday, October 26, 2002. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School where he was selected All District football player. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and was a member of the Texas Exes Students Association. He was a lifelong homebuilder and developer with Saunders & Trieschmann. Together they developed the Fairfield Subdivision, Rolling Ridge Area and the Summit. Mr. Saunders also developed Braun Station Subdivision as well as many other commercial and residential projects. He served as a Director of Alamo National Bank, President of the Greater San Antonio Homebuilders Association and was also a Real Estate Broker. Mr. Saunders was an avid rancher and loved his ranch in South Texas. He also loved science, Texas history and folklore so much that he completed graduate studies in Archeology. He was an avid golfer and valued the many hours he spent playing with his friends at the San Antonio Country Club. He was a visionary who saw the best in people. His exceptional integrity was respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. John T. Jane Saunders; sons, John T. Saunders, Jr. and his wife Laurie, John Moore and his wife Michelle, and Ben Saunders; daughters, Susan Coffey and her husband Lane, Leigh Munk and her husband Dwight, Kim Schott and Margaret Patterson and her husband Bob; grandchildren, John T. Saunders, III, Christina Marie Saunders, Virginia Grace Saunders, Sandra Thornton, Clayton Thornton, Cameron Campbell, Trenton Campbell, Stuart Campbell, Will Patterson, Maggie Patterson, Evan Munk Carlisle Munk, Leigh Murphy, William Murphy, Bradley Milton, John Michael Moore and Stephanie Moore; brother, Dr. James R. Saunders and his wife, Velma; sister, Claudine Saunders Eisenhauer and many nieces and nephews.
