

John Stephen Skinner was born on November 9, 1938 in Washington, PA and went to be with his Lord on January 25, 2016 in San Antonio, TX after a brief illness. He was 77 years old. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He met the love of his life, Clara, while stationed in San Antonio where they married in 1959. He worked in the electrical supply business for 43 years and served as an electrical and building inspector for the city of Garden Ridge for 37 years. He was a Life Member of the Bracken Volunteer Fire Department, a Life Member of the Bracken Bowling Club, and a charter member of Triumphant Lutheran Church which he helped build.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Leona (Phillips) Skinner, his father, John L. Skinner and his brother, Tom E. Skinner. He is survived by his wife, Clara (Meckel) Skinner; his children, Wendy G. Marbach of Cibolo, Todd W. Skinner and wife, Leisa of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Christopher Skinner, Megan Marbach, Amy Marbach, James Skinner, Sara Marbach and Cole Marbach. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Pugsley and husband, Charles and his sister-in-law, Sandy Skinner all of Daleville, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation with family will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. A celebration of John’s life will be held Monday, February 1, 2016, 9:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home with burial immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Triumphant Lutheran Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
