John Francis "Frank" Warren Jr., 72, passed away on November 14, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas with his beloved family by his side. He was born on November 11, 1942, to Dr. J. Francis Warren and Virginia Pipitone Warren. He was raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland and graduated from St. Anselm's Priory School in 1960. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 1969 receiving his B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Philosophy. It was at St. Thomas where he met the love of his life, Marcella, and married on June 18, 1969.
After graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and served four years with the 8th Combat Engineer Battalion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Semper Fidelis! He and Marcella moved to San Antonio in 1972. Through his early career, he worked with Great American Homes, Handy Dan and Woldhagen Pools. In 1981, Frank purchased Woldhagen Pools which became Associated Pools and still operates today. Building and maintaining relationships with his clients over the years brought him great joy.
Growing up, Frank's family summered in Ocean City, Maryland. He shared many stories of his summers running his umbrella beach stand on 13th Street and his love of the ocean, sand and Eastern Shore seafood. He always loved the Warren family farm, The Limekiln Farm in Berlin, Maryland, crabbing for his favorite Maryland Blue Crab. As an adult, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and especially being at their family ranch in Hondo, Texas. His Catholic faith guided his life. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed any opportunity to talk politics. He loved a great rare steak, fine wine, conversations and lots of laughter. One of his passions was music. He enjoyed all genres and was always happiest with his favorite playlist. Although born an Easterner, he was a Texan for 42 wonderful years and was proud to live in this great state.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Joe Biry; and brother-in-law, Tom Richter. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcella; three children, Blake (Wayne) Woolsey, John Francis (Kari) Warren III and Wesley Joseph (Celina) Warren; and five grandsons: Warren Page Woolsey, Declan Sumner Woolsey, John Francis "Jack" Warren IV, Gibson Jett Woolsey and Grayson Reynolds Warren.
