John Allen Whitworth, Jr.

in Waynesville, NC. He grew up in Chester, SC where he attended the Chester public schools graduating from Chester High School in 1954. He

entered the US Air Force on August 12, 1954, served four years and received an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1958.

John worked for Handy Andy Supermarkets as a manager until 1966 when he and his family moved to New Braunfels, TX where he opened the A & P

Supermarket and ran it for 9 A1/2 years an manager. When Wuests Supermarkets acquired the store, he stayed on as manager another 5 1/2

years.

During this 15 year period he was active in the New Braunfels community being involved with the Cub Scouts, Little League, the Noons Lions Club,

the Eagles and the Knights of Columbus. He served several terms as President of the Landa Merchants Association. He was on the First City

Charter Revision Committee for the City of New Braunfels.

In 1981, he began consulting with such companies as ThortonAs Supermarkets, Handy Andy, Model Markets, Pic n Save, MacFrugals and Winns.

He retired from retail in late 1992 and launched a new career in real estate in 1993 with the Century 21 Action Realty office in New Braunfels, TX. He

attained Master Agent status every year he listed and sold. In 1996, he became Sales Manager for the Century 21 Action Realty office at Canyon

Lake and the Century 21 Action Realty office in Seguin. He was also recognized as one of the top Real Estate Trainers with the prestigious GRI

Graduate Realtor Institute Designation. He was a member of the New Braunfels/Canyon Lake Board of Realtors. He was also a member of the

Seguin Board of Realtors where he served on the Board of Directors and as Board President in 2003.

Mr. Whitworth is survived by his wife of 53 1/2 years, Katherine Eleanor Vann Whitworth of New Braunfels; daughter, Nannette Whitworth

Zimmerebner and her husband Gerard Zimmerebner of Fair Oaks Ranch; son Wayne Allen Whitworth and his wife Rahzel Whitworth of San

Antonio; and his grandson Joel Michael Zimmerebner of Fair Oaks Ranch.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday,

March 9, 2011, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
