

Jack was born in Dallas, Texas on October 9, 1935 to John Tremper Williams and Thelma Holmes Williams.
He was a star football player at Longview High School and later graduated from the University of Texas where he was a business major and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He went on to do graduate studies in banking and finance at the University of Texas and then completed a tour of duty in the United States Army with the rank of Captain.
At the age of 23, Jack took over a bankrupt Schlitz beer distributorship and soon after married Jane Elaine Yeaton on June 16, 1962. From 1976 to 1981, he turned the company into the number one beer distributor in San Antonio and the number one Schlitz distributor in the nation.
Through his position as President of Schlitz San Antonio, Jack supported many local charities and founded the first youth tennis program for local underprivileged children.
He purchased the Grand Champion steer at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition five times and donated the proceeds to LULAC, Easter Seals, Boy Scouts, and various 4H-FSA organizations.
Jack possessed an avid curiosity and enjoyment of business, and after selling the Schlitz distributorship in 1981, he began an oil and gas company which is now being run by his sons, Jack and Jim.
Jack was also an enthusiastic fisherman and golfer. He loved working on the land at his pecan orchards in Arkansas. Jack was a gentle giant who enjoyed numerous friends from many walks of life.
He served on the Board of the National Bank of Commerce and was a member of the San Antonio Country Club, the Argyle, and the Town Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Tremper Williams and Thelma Holmes Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Janie Yeaton Williams; sons Jack Tremper Williams III and wife Tracy, and James Yeaton Williams and wife Amanda; his beloved granddaughters Josephine Yeaton Williams and Sophia Jane Williams; brother, Dr. Lacy Holmes Williams and wife Edie; and his cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jack was an honorable, kind man who always brought a smile to those around him with his humor, charm and wit.
He achieved many successes and joys in life, the most important being his devoted and loving family who will cherish his memory always.
Honorary Pallbearers will be George Bristol, Jimmy Donnell, Roger Hill, George Luhn, Bill Lyons, Dossett McCullough, Paul McSween, Argyle O'Brien, Dr. Mark Rittenhouse, Phil Roberts, Dr. Reeves Smith and Eldred Stapper.
A private burial service for immediate family members will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
