John David Williams, Jr., age 57, was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and joined his grandparents, Wendell and Blanche Betts; and his aunts Shela Betts and Louise Sievers on Monday, July 18, 2022, in Spring Branch, Texas.
Born on February 22, 1965, in Kankakee, Illinois, John was the ever-loved first born child of John and Melody Williams, and super-duper big brother to Susan Kathlyn Williams Rice (Mike); and Kristy Louise Williams Dunn (Allen). John was the proudest "Unca" to Britni June Bunn and Kamryn Melody Lovett, whom he loved without condition. And if that wasnt enough, his love showed no bounds to his aunt and uncle, Kathlyn and Alan Roth. John was his cousin Marc Roths biggest champion!
His family nights were, without question, some of the best times spent with him. His friends know that any night spent with his buddies was a night to be treasured. If your sides werent hurting from laughing so much around John, you hadnt lived!
John graduated from Clint High School in 1983 (Best. Tuba Player. Ever.) and attended Angelo State University. John proudly served in the United States Navy and was a top scholar of the Naval Nuclear Power School. An avid fan of Star Trek, John was thrilled when he was assigned to the USS Enterprise CVN 65.
As a boy, John loved building models, watching Star Trek and hanging out with his dad, his arm around dads neck while driving (no seat belts, of course). His moms red enchiladas with a fried egg on top were his absolute favorite.
As a man, John exhibited integrity and was a man of his word. He LOVED his sports cars and fighter jets. He took his job seriously; if you shop at HEB and your food is properly cold, you can thank John.
John gave without question, lived fully, and fiercely loved his friends and family all while filling everyones hearts with laughter. John had about 7 work shirts, 50 Texas Rangers shirts (give or take 10 Texas Longhorn tees) and 100 funny shirts. An equal distribution of attire, according to John.
There are no words to describe the loss we feel. The John-shaped hole we have in our hearts will be with us all our days. He knows as well as we do that this isnt "goodbye", but rather "see ya later."
John is survived by his parents, sisters and their children and his aunts, uncles and cousins; his friends from Atlanta and North Carolina; and all the life-long classmates and friends from the great state of Texas to every corner of the USA.
To honor John and his love of good sports and good humor (and a comfy pair of jeans), we ask that you PLEASE wear your favorite sports team shirt (Texas Rangers and the Longhorns go a long way) or a totally funny t-shirt and your favorite jeans.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
