
Lucille Kalmus, age 88, of Seguin, Texas passed away on June 1, 2025. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 26, 1936, to Aubrey and Lucille Autry. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, brothers, Aubrey “Jack” Autry and William “Buddy” Autry, sisters, Esther Eckols (Edward), Evelyn Carley, and Shirley Autry.
On October 6, 1956, she married Billy Ray Jahns, with whom she shared nearly 19 years of marriage until his passing on July 13, 1975. Years later, she found love again and married Anton Kalmus on June 18, 1988. They shared a devoted life together until his passing on September 3, 2022.
She was a proud graduate of Brackenridge High School and went on to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone and later at Fort Sam Houston.
Lucille had a gift for creating a warm and welcoming home. She was a superb cook and baker and enjoyed planning and preparing delicious meals that brought her family together around the table. Her extraordinary green thumb and love for planting and tending her flowers created beautiful gardens all around her home. She could be heard singing beloved old gospel hymns while cooking, working outside, cleaning, or driving to the store. These songs, rooted in her early church life, were a cherished part of who she was and continued to bring her comfort and peace in the final weeks of life.
She is lovingly survived by her children, son, Terry Jahns (Ann) and daughter, Tammie Jahns; stepchildren, Kim Kalmus and Brian Kalmus (Betty Ann); grandchildren, Micah Jahns (Cayce), Joshua Jahns (Jessica), Aaron Jahns (Keely), and Shannon Jahns; step-grandchildren, Kala Kalmus and Kacy Kalmus; great-grandchildren, Hayden Long, Kasen Jahns, Emmalyn Jahns, Easton Jahns, Everly Jahns; step great-grandchildren Gwendolyn Kalmus and Charlotte Kalmus; sisters Berta Langhoff (Larry) and Carolyn Deason (Charlie); sister-in-law, Doris Autry; and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Pastor Adrian Compton, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Compassion Church, 2862 Thousand Oaks Dr; San Antonio, Texas 78232.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Compassion Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family of Lucille Kalmus wish to extend our sincere appreciation for your prayers and visits with Lucille and to the staff at Peaceful Seasons Residential Home Care and Bristol Hospice.
