

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Geraldine Neal and Dorothy Willard. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Gail Neal; daughter: Boni G. Noftsger and her husband Mitch and their children Brandon(Alyssa) and Chris(Heather); Son: John Kenneth Neal and his children Ken, Hunter, Kori and brother-in-law Gene Willard.
Johnnie was a very loving and caring man who never met a stranger. He grew up in Victoria Courts on Durango Street. Johnnie started working at a very young age where he drove his father's truck at the age of 10/12 years old. Johnnie delivered ice house to house for many years. He graduated in 1951 from Burbank High School, then he worked for Lone Star Ice Company where he had two ice trucks and many routes. In 1953 he was drafted in the US Army where he served his country for 8 years. After the Army he went back to work with Lone Star Ice Company which later become Mission Ice Company where he went through many owners where eventually proudly became the owner in 1976. He worked with his childhood friends Dan Detmar and Jack Bradford for many years. Before he sold the company his business expanded all over South Texas. Johnnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Johnnie's visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 6pm-9pm at Sunset Funeral Home. His services will be held the next day, Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11am at the funeral home with an entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
