Johnny Hix passed peacefully at Spurs Headquarters (home) in San Antonio, Jan. 12, 2019. John wanted it to be known that he died as a result of being stubborn, refusing to follow doctors’ orders and raising heck for just over 68 years. John is survived by his high school sweetheart and adoring wife of 49 years, Dolores, and his headstrong and loving children, Letitia (Arturo), Dominic (Sylvia), Aaron (Kate) and Michelle, his
beloved and revered grandchildren: Christian, Sofia, Dominic, Arturo, Donovan, Maximiliano, Belen, Roman, Maya, Hudson and Addie Rose and his cherished and sweet great grandson, Liam. He is also survived by his loving mother, Petra Guadalupe, his favorite sister, Rose Mary and his treasured brothers, Joe, Daniel, Ron and David. John was a man of many talents: entrepreneur, caregiver, volunteer, raconteur, beer connoisseur and master chef (self-declared) just to name a few.
John will be missed for his spontaneous gatherings, “the best (insert food here) you’ve had all day,” delicious smorgasbords, everlasting campfires and great camaraderie. But most of all, he will be missed for being the “Chief Thunder Toe” of his family! Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:15 A.M. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Rd, Helotes, Texas 78023 with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
