

Johnny was born in McGregor, Texas to the late Hillary Pleasant and Ora Bernice Mackey Pleasant on June 29, 1933. He went to school at W. G. Carver Colored High School in McGregor, Texas. He married Dee Pleasant on February 14, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas. He worked as a Machinist for the University of Texas at Austin for 20 years. He was also veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the United States Air Force, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Award in the Religious Program.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ora Lee Jacobs.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 19 years and 10 months; 5 children, Johnny Ray Pleasant, Jr. (Karol), Kenneth Pleasant (Tracy), Sonja Calvillo, Tamika Horn, and Thaddeus Horn (Deja); brothers Richard Pleasant (Mabel), Stanley Pleasant and 2 sisters Betty Ross, and Willie Dean Hawkins; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and two special friends, like brothers Wesley Smith and Reginald Williams.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at The Conquerors Assembly Church, 937 West Magnolia Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78201.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at The Conquerors Assembly Church, 937 West Magnolia Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78201 with the Bishop Jonathan D. Ellis of The Conquerors Assembly Church officiating. A committal service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Conquerors Assembly Benevolent Fund in the name of Deacon Johnny Pleasant
